Community Outreach and Local Engagement: Delivering Inclusive Services Beyond Campus
Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) actively delivers structured, sustained outreach programs that extend the university’s expertise beyond campus to benefit local communities. These initiatives are implemented across education, healthcare, environmental sustainability, legal services, and community development, with a strong focus on improving access to essential services for underserved populations in surrounding regions.
Structured Educational Outreach and Capacity Building
Education remains the core of UNS outreach activities, delivered through both institutional programs and community-based initiatives.
School Support Systems (PLP – Flagship Program)
UNS annually conducts educational outreach programs beyond the campus through the Pengenalan Lapangan Persekolahan (PLP) program, held on a scheduled basis by the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP).
This program is part of UNS’s ongoing effort to strengthen the quality of teacher education by providing students with direct experience in understanding the dynamics and real conditions of school environments. PLP serves as an essential stage in shaping future professional educators, bridging theoretical learning at the university with practical implementation in schools.
Every year, UNS deploys approximately 2,000 students to 389 schools across the Solo Raya region. Through teaching assistance, mentoring, and project-based learning, this program directly strengthens the quality of basic education while addressing local learning gaps.
