ENSURE HEALTHY LIVES AND PROMOTE WELL-BEING FOR ALL AT ALL AGES

SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being is one of the Sustainable Development Goals that focuses on ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages. Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) demonstrates a strong commitment to achieving this goal through various programs and policies aimed at creating a healthy, safe, and supportive campus environment. This commitment is manifested through the integration of health principles into campus policies, improved healthcare services, and the education and empowerment of the academic community regarding physical and mental health.

At UNS, a range of initiatives has been carried out to support the implementation of SDG 3. One key initiative is the operation of the UNS Primary Clinic, which provides basic healthcare services for students, lecturers, and staff. This clinic plays a vital role in early disease detection, medical consultations, and first-line treatment for various health concerns. Additionally, UNS offers psychological support services through the Psychology Service Unit (ULP), recognizing the importance of mental health in helping students cope with academic and personal pressures.

To raise awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle, UNS regularly organizes health education programs, such as seminars on balanced nutrition, reproductive health awareness, and mental health campaigns. Activities such as morning exercise sessions, inter-faculty sports competitions, and the annual UNS Run also promote regular physical activity. From an environmental perspective, UNS enforces a smoke-free campus policy and continues to expand green open spaces (RTH) to improve air quality and enhance campus comfort.

UNS is also actively involved in community service in the health sector through its Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Nursing, and Faculty of Health Sciences. Programs such as free medical check-ups, mobile health services, and nutrition education in underserved areas are part of UNS’s tangible contributions to improving public health. Moreover, research in health-related fields continues to grow, particularly in areas such as non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, and environmental health.

UNS’s commitment to SDG 3 goes beyond short-term actions and is embedded in its long-term strategic policies. The university actively promotes the integration of health issues into its academic curriculum, strengthens partnerships with healthcare institutions, and fosters a campus ecosystem that supports a balance between academic activities and personal well-being. Through these efforts, UNS affirms that higher education institutions play a critical role in supporting sustainable health development and in producing a generation that is healthy, intelligent, and globally competitive.
