Accessible and Inclusive Sexual and Reproductive Health Services at UNS

Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) ensures that all students have free, accessible, and inclusive access to sexual and reproductive health-care services, including information, education, and counseling. These services are delivered through institutional units and student-led initiatives, forming an integrated system that supports students’ well-being, informed decision-making, and personal safety

Integrated Counseling, Protection, and Support Services
Satgas PPK – Violence Prevention and Response Task Force (formerly Satgas PPKS)

UNS provides structured and confidential access to sexual and reproductive health-related support through Satgas PPK (Violence Prevention and Response Task Force), formerly known as Satgas PPKS (Sexual Violence Prevention Task Force), following the implementation of national regulation (Permendikbudristek No. 55/2024). The support provided covers services and education related to sexual and reproductive health, particularly in areas of consent, personal safety, and prevention of sexual violence.

Services include:

  • Confidential counseling and guidance on sexual and reproductive health, consent, and personal safety
  • Educational resources and awareness programs on reproductive health, healthy relationships, and social ethics
  • Secure and accessible reporting system via an official online platform
  • Integrated support services, including psychological assistance, legal guidance, and recovery support for survivors

In recognition of its institutional commitment, UNS received a national award in 2025 for Best Violence Prevention and Response Task Force among Indonesian public universities, granted by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. This achievement reflects the effectiveness and impact of UNS’s efforts in creating a safe, inclusive, and violence-free campus environment.

Peer-to-Peer Education and Reproductive Health Information
PIK-R (Pusat Informasi dan Konseling Remaja) Cakra UNS

PIK-R Cakra (Youth Information and Counseling Center) is a student-led center that provides free, accessible reproductive health education and counseling, ensuring that information reaches students in a relatable, stigma-free manner.

As part of the national Generasi Berencana (GENRE) program, PIK-R Cakra delivers:

  • Peer counseling on reproductive health and adolescent development
  • Education on HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) prevention
  • Guidance on family life planning and responsible decision-making
  • Life skills training and awareness programs on healthy relationships and substance abuse prevention

Services are delivered through both offline campus activities and online platforms, ensuring broad accessibility for students and adolescents.

Integration with Healthcare Services and Referral System

Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) ensures that students have access to medical support for sexual and reproductive health needs through its integrated campus healthcare system.

Students can:

  • Receive initial consultation and guidance through campus-based services
  • Access reproductive and general health consultations at the UNS Medical Center
  • Be referred to UNS Hospital for further examination, diagnostic services, and specialized treatment when required

These services are delivered by licensed and qualified healthcare professionals, including general practitioners at the Medical Center, with referral pathways to specialist care, such as obstetrics and gynecology, at UNS Hospital.

Primary healthcare services at the Medical Center are provided free of charge to students, ensuring equitable, barrier-free access to essential reproductive health consultations.

Through this integrated system, UNS ensures that students have access not only to education and counseling but also to professional clinical care within a safe, affordable, and accessible healthcare environment.

Health Education and Awareness Campaigns

UNS actively promotes reproductive health awareness through structured educational initiatives, including:

  • Webinars, workshops, and seminars on reproductive health and sexual consent
  • Awareness campaigns on healthy relationships, STI prevention, and personal safety
  • Dissemination of educational content through digital platforms, student organizations, and university channels

These initiatives ensure that students are equipped with accurate, evidence-based information, helping reduce stigma and encouraging proactive health behaviors.

Conclusion

Through the integration of institutional support systems, student-led initiatives, and healthcare services, UNS provides comprehensive, free, and accessible sexual and reproductive health-care services.

By combining education, counseling, and referral-based medical support, UNS ensures that students have both the knowledge and the means to maintain their sexual and reproductive health, fostering a safe, inclusive, and sustainable campus environment.
