END HUNGER, ACHIEVE FOOD SECURITY AND IMPROVED NUTRITION AND PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE.

Hunger is the leading cause of death worldwide, despite our planet’s incredible resource endowment. Inequitable access and inefficient management leave millions of people malnourished. This is the primary focus of SDG 2, which is to end hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition, and advance sustainable agriculture.

Sebelas Maret University (UNS) is strongly committed to supporting the achievement of SDG 2 by implementing various research and community service programs focused on sustainable agriculture. UNS actively develops modern agricultural technologies, such as the use of air-efficient irrigation systems, the use of organic fertilizers, and innovative pest-resistant crop varieties, aimed at increasing productivity without harming the environment.

In addition, UNS implements a local farmer empowerment program through training and mentoring in the application of appropriate technology and efficient crop management. UNS also promotes a fair food distribution system so that agricultural products can reach the wider community, especially vulnerable groups prone to hunger.

Through close collaboration between the academic community, farmers, and other stakeholders, UNS continues to strive to create sustainable solutions to meet global food needs and ensure that no one suffers from hunger in the future. This commitment is in line with UNS’s vision to make a real contribution to the welfare of society and environmental aspirations.
