Student-Led Environmental Sustainability Societies at UNS

Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) supports environmental sustainability through active student-led societies that are established, managed, and operated by students for students. These organizations focus on biodiversity, conservation, and environmental engagement across faculties, promote environmental protection and sustainability awareness, and provide platforms for students to take meaningful environmental action both on campus and in the wider community.

These student societies form a dynamic ecosystem across the university and faculty levels, reflecting UNS’s strong commitment to empowering students as active contributors to sustainability.

Student-Led Environmental Societies

UNS hosts a wide range of student-led environmental organizations that operate independently and are fully student-managed. These societies play a key role in promoting sustainability values, encouraging active participation, and implementing real environmental actions.

University-Level Organization

• Garba Wira Bhuana (GWB)
  A university-level student nature lover organization that engages students in environmental conservation, outdoor education, and sustainability-oriented activities. GWB provides hands-on experiences that strengthen students’ awareness and responsibility toward the environment.

Academic and Research-Based Community

• Kelompok Studi BIODIVERSITAS (KS BIODIV)
  A student-initiated academic community focusing on biodiversity conservation, environmental research, and awareness-raising. KS BIODIV supports scientific exploration and promotes students’ understanding of ecosystem preservation.

Faculty-Level Environmental Organizations

At the faculty level, UNS has a strong network of student-led environmental societies across disciplines, including:
