4.3.5 Lifelong Learning Access Policy

UNS Guarantees Access to Inclusive and Non-Discriminatory Lifelong Education

Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta institutionally confirms its commitment to providing access to Lifelong Learning, Equal, and free from discrimination. This commitment is not only reflected in public service ethics but also reinforced through rectorate regulations and concrete initiatives on the ground in 2024, in line with the university’s goals. SDG 4: Quality Education, which prioritizes inclusivity.

The legal basis for guaranteed equal access begins with the university’s core policies, including those governing admissions and the academic environment. This commitment is reinforced in the new student admissions policy. UNS has a policy that guarantees open access to education without discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, disability, and gender, as stated in Rector’s Regulation Number 18 of 2024 concerning Independent Selection for New Student Admissions for Diploma and Undergraduate Programs.

UNS emphasizes that all activities and Longlife Learning access to resources are based on the principle of non-discrimination, ensuring that quality education is accessible to all citizens, regardless of their background.

UNS has also developed comprehensive guidelines for the implementation of the Pengenalan Lapangan Persekolahan (PLP) — School Field Introduction Program — to support education outreach activities beyond the campus. These guidelines are updated annually to ensure relevance and effectiveness.

The PLP program demonstrates UNS’s strong commitment to promoting lifelong learning within the community. Each year, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of UNS deploys students to more than 300 schools across Surakarta as part of the PLP initiative, enabling them to gain practical teaching experience while contributing directly to the improvement of education at the local level.
