3.3.7 Mental Health Support for Staff
Mental Health Support for Staff at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS)
As part of its holistic commitment to the health and well-being of all campus members, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), through the Unit Layanan Psikologi (ULAPSI), has strengthened the active promotion of good mental health not only for students but also for academic and administrative staff. This initiative shows that UNS prioritizes the psychological well-being of its entire academic community without exception.
Through ULAPSI, UNS staff have access to free mental health support, including psychological consultations, basic assessments, stress management training, and mental health education designed for the workplace context. These services reflect the university’s proactive approach to supporting staff well-being and provide a safe and confidential space for them to easily seek professional help.
In addition to the free services, ULAPSI also offers paid access to mental health support for staff, students, and the general public who need more intensive or long-term assistance. These paid services include individual and group counseling sessions, advanced psychological assessments, and psychotherapy interventions conducted by licensed psychologists under the Faculty of Psychology. Despite being paid, these services maintain high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and quality, supporting each client’s recovery and personal development.
The active promotion of good mental health for staff is also carried out through workshops on stress management, group discussions on work–life balance, and long-term well-being monitoring. Through these activities, UNS aims to build a caring, open, and supportive campus culture that values mental health as a shared responsibility.
These efforts align with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being, which highlights the importance of ensuring health and well-being for all, including academic and administrative personnel. By providing both free and paid forms of mental health support, UNS demonstrates that mental health care is not an optional agenda but an essential part of its vision to create a healthy, productive, and sustainable campus environment.
